WAYSIDE, N.J. (August 15, 2012) – Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing driver Trent Hindman couldn’t have picked a better time to get on a hot streak in Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda competition. With the slow start at the season-opener at Sebring International Speedway a distant memory, Hindman comes into this weekend’s tripleheader at Road America with a streak of five straight top-five finishes, including a podium at the last race at Mid-Ohio, his first podium of the season.

“Mid-Ohio was a welcome relief,” noted Hindman prior to heading to the airport for the short flight to Wisconsin. “We could have easily lost the momentum we carried into Indianapolis during the break, but the Capes provided me with a great car again and I’m happy I was able to bring home the result. Now we just have to bring that momentum to Road America.”

At four miles in length, Road America may no longer hold the title of “longest race track in America”, but none of the longer tracks carry the history and cache of the track just outside the sleepy resort town of Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. If there was ever an ideal track for Hindman to run three races, it would be Road America, where he has an average of a third place finish in Skip Barber competition.

"I LOVE Road America. It has always been one of my favorite tracks, but then again I can’t think of anyone who doesn’t like Road America. Although the draft isn’t as strong in a USF2000 car as it is in a Formula Skip Barber, the combination of long straights and high and low speed corners will make for some exciting racing and lots of passes for position."

Drivers hit the track the first official session of the weekend Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. Eastern for Practice. Follow the action with Live Timing and Scoring at http://www.usf2000.com/livetiming, and follow the action semi-live on Twitter by following @altemus_prime.

The Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda is also featured in the “Mazda Motorsports Hour” on the Discovery Velocity network. Highlights of the Road America rounds of the USF2000 championship will be broadcast on a date to be determined. Check with your cable or satellite provider to see if you get Velocity.

Wayside, N.J. native Trent Hindman comes to the 2012 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda off a diverse season of racing that includes winning the Ontario Formula Ford Championship, a runner-up finish in the BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda and selection to the prestigious Team USA Scholarship. Hindman will return to the U.K. in 2012 with Cliff Dempsey Racing to contest the Formula Renault BARC Championship. A former Skip Barber Karting Scholarship Shoot-out winner, Hindman’s goal is to progress through the “Mazda Road to Indy” program, culminating in a ride in the IZOD IndyCar Series. Hindman is racing with defending USF2000 champions Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing and would like to thank Sparco, Racelite Protection and Altemus Prime Communications for their support.

Away from the track, Hindman attends Ocean Township High School in Oakhurst, N.J. He resides in Wayside with his parents Doug and Kim and his sister Sloane. Learn more about Trent Hindman at http://www.trenthindman.com

Drivers today have a clearly defined ladder system as they aspire to reach the top echelons of the sport and the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda represents the first official step on the Mazda Road to Indy. Sanctioned by INDYCAR, the series provides a vital training ground for rising stars in addition to a scholarship package from Mazda to advance to Star Mazda, the next rung on the ladder. While debuting a new generation in 2010, the series boasts a rich history as a revival of the highly regarded national USF2000 series which ran from 1990 through 2006, launching the careers of many of today’s top drivers. It is also part of the prestigious MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development Ladder with the top driver in the BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda advancing to the series. A total of 16 races blending ovals, street circuits and permanent road course events ensures the perfect balance to properly train drivers for success as they advance to the higher levels.
