ELKHART LAKE, WIS. (August 15, 2012) – After taking on the Mid-Ohio rounds of the 2012 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda series two weeks ago, Roman Lagudi will be back on track this week. Set to contest a tripleheader weekend with his Belardi Auto Racing team at the picturesque 4.048-mile, 14-turn Road America facility located in Elkhart Lake, Wis., running in conjunction with the American Le Mans Series, Lagudi enters as a championship contender with two rounds remaining after Road America.

Earning six top-five finishes in seven starts, including four podium results, Lagudi finds himself third in the overall championship standings, 50 markers out of first and 32 behind second place. In his first full season with the series Lagudi has been impressive, and he will look to continue that momentum this weekend.

A two-day test at the challenging Road America course back in June saw Lagudi log 315 miles during 15 hours of track time. With his knowledge gained during the test, Lagudi will look to put his No. 4 Champion Stone/Tool and Supply/High Performance Distributors entry in position to vie for race wins and more podium positions.

Lagudi will be on track today for the promoter day test sessions, with official practice sessions to follow on Thursday, August 16. Qualifying is also slated for Thursday at 12:45pm CDT. Two races are scheduled Friday, August 17 at 9:40am and 5:15pm, with the final race of the tripleheader event set for 8:45am Saturday, August 18. Live timing and scoring is available at http://www.usf2000.com

The 2012 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship powered by Mazda series will see 11 stops at some of the most prestigious tracks North America has to offer. Running weekends with the IZOD IndyCar series, the American LeMans series and the United States Auto Club, Lagudi is set to contest for the overall series title with championship-caliber team Belardi Auto Racing. The Las Vegas, Nevada resident is working towards a dream career in motorsports and is proud to represent drivers taking the first step in the Mazda Road to Indy ladder development program.

Roman Lagudi is proudly sponsored by High Performance Distributors and Champion Stone Tool and Supply. For more information on Roman Lagudi, please visit http://www.RomanLagudi.com or email Paul Lagudi at paul@romanlagudi.com
