F2000 Championship: WISKO Race Team Confirms Three-Car Entry

The WISKO Race Team has announced a newly confirmed driver lineup for 2013’s open-wheel race season. The team will be campaigning a three-car F2000 Championship Series effort for the entirety of the race season, along with one completely new addition, an entry in the F1600 Formula F Championship Series.

The team has confirmed the three F2000 drivers, as Kevin Kopp, who returns from 2012’s championship battle, where he was able to grab a fourth place championship result in his debut season, along with series newcomers Federico Mosconi and Shane Morris. Kopp, Mosconi and Morris will all be racing Van Diemen chassis cars under the WISKO team’s banner. Both new drivers are getting up to speed very quickly in the two-liter cars, and are expected to fair quite well this year.

“We will be providing them the best package we can to ensure maximum results this season.” said team manager Danyel Torres. “We’ve done a bit of winter testing thus far, and their attitudes and performance are very promising. Retaining Kopp for this year was a no-brainer. He is a major asset to the team and a real talent. He is excited to work with Shane and Federico, thus creating productivity within the team. It’s a great atmosphere and we expect great things to come.”

A new addition to WISKO’s race program is the announcement of a new F1600 effort. Piloting for WISKO’s F1600 squad will be Paul Alspach. Alspach contested four of the 14 F2000 rounds last season, where he impressed the team greatly with his solid performances as a rookie. The WISKO team will rely on Alspach’s talent to kick off a solid inaugural 1600 season and showcase his and the team’s abilities in new competition.

“Putting a 1600 program together is crucial for a team like us, who strives in providing a continuing platform for junior race drivers.” said Peter Strasser, WISKO team owner. “We trust Paul is the right candidate to kick off our 1600 season, so we are excited to see how things unfold.”

The team has yet to reveal which chassis and engine package will be its choice in F1600.

The WISKO Race Team will be ready for battle once April arrives. The following weeks to come will keep the team busy back at the shop, with updates and modifications to the 2012 cars and preparation of the F1600 chassis. The team is looking for every advantage they can get, and with a four-car team now confirmed, it’s a challenge the guys at WISKO are more than prepared to take.
