Britain West Celebrates Sixteen Years of Success
Britain West Motorsports, Canada’s leading F1600 competition group, completed another championship season, it’s seventh since making noise in open wheel racing in 1998. That consistent run to the top of the field each season in both Ontario and Quebec has created a legacy of winning and results for the family run operation from Brantford, Ontario. Just days ago, Britain West broke ground on a new race shop, minutes down the road from their current location, to accommodate the burgeoning racing operation.

“It’s really been a good year, not just for us here at Britain West, but the entire Formula 1600 community here in Canada,” comments David Clubine, owner and team manager of Britain West Motorsports. “There are so many great teams and talented drivers and exceptional events that winning gets harder each year. And that makes it worth so much more in the end.”

Britain West Motorsports took their first Ontario Formula Ford Championship in 2000, which they repeated again in 2003 and in 2005 they took the Vice Championship. Since then the team have put together a string of 12 top tier championships and class honors including four in 2012. 2014 was stellar taking the inaugural Canadian F1600 Super Series Championship, Ontario F1600 Championship Vice Championship and third place Formula Tour Masters Championship.

Topping off the season was the recent announcement that Britain West Motorsports driver Chase Pelletier was selected for the prestigious Team Canada Scholarship Award. Chase will represent Canada at the Formula Ford Festival taking place at the Brands Hatch Circuit just north of London, England at the end of October.

“We have had a chance to work with some really great young talent over the years,” continues Clubine. “Chase did an amazing job this season and earning the Team Canada Scholarship is icing on the cake. Although we will be here working on the new shop and on next seasons programs, everyone at Britain West will be with Chase in spirit.”

With no time to rest, Britain West will begin completing a series a evaluation test in their F1600 machines on Oct 16 and 17 as well as October 20 at Toronto Motorsports Park.
