So what ever became of the proposal? I think it would be a great move for the long term success of the class. I had my 12yr old son practicing in a 750cc/140hp minisprint/750lbs several times last summer at Volusia County Speedway(Ormond Bch-1/2mi dirt) and he had the time of his life. He hit 120mph by the end of his first day but the regulars were closer to 140mph. He said lets sell the rotax karts and go dirt racing dad.

Here's the kicker. I found out that they, the Florida Mini Sprint Association http://www.flminisprints.com, have there engine rules set up to run a stock engine with no blueprinting or tampering of the motor except for a aftermarket ecu power programmer. You can pick up complete fuel injected 05-09 600cc motors for $500-$900 all day long across the entire country. Blow a motor, get on ebay, craigslist, or call motorcycle recycler and have another $500 motor within days. A fuel injected 600cc/100hp stock motor package for the F500 would take the class into the 21st century and grow the class in the long run.

We'd rather road race since Roebling, Daytona, Sebring, PBIR, CMP are so close, but if I can buy the 2010 championship winning mini sprint car for $5500 and we can run against an average of 35 cars, it sounds alot more fun and financially sound.

If you did make the engine change it would be a great marketing tool to go after the families and teenagers that would like to race an open wheel car at the big road race tracks but at a 1/4 of the expense of most of the other classes. Go after the Rotax Jr & WKA Jr karters (14-19yr olds) and see your car counts double/triple in the next 3-5yrs.

The only person/persons that would be hurt by the switch would be the snowmobile engine builders that count on F500 customers to support there business. Just my .02

Try doing this with your Ski-Doo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqYPz_nq ... re=related
