I am sorry to hear about his passing. For many years in the 1980's & 90's he was the only F500 driver in the RM Division. I think I met him only one time when he was at the Runoffs in Atlanta. How did he die?

Jim, according to a post on the Colorado Region forum Mr. Shaw died on April, 29, 2010 due to complications following surgery. The post also says he had been in poor health for three years. |

Hi, my name is Jessica Shaw Steiner, and I am Don Shaw's daughter, and have enjoyed reading some posts pertaining to him and his F500. He did passed away a year and a half ago, at 65 (too young). He had repaired the F500 after driving it off the track (2006-his last race) but was unable to re-assemble the car and return to racing before his health gave out. As his mind & heart were still strong; it was one of his hardest points of acceptance- coming to terms with the fact that he would never be able to return to the garage or to the racetrack.
Dad was a competitor in the best sense and gracious, I always appreciated his readiness to help and encourage other drivers/mechanics
Don Shaw loved racing, it was so much a part of who he was, so it's been a process coming to the place of being ready to sell his race car; but now it's time to find the car's new owner. Are there any drivers in the Denver area that would be able to help me determine a fair value and/ or wanting to buy a F500? AS maybe stated here before it's a 1996 Phantom MK6. Thanks for your consideration, any help, ideas or contacts you could provide would really be appreciated !! |

| My husband is chiming in: In addition to the race car there are a lot of items/parts which we will be wanting to part with or include with the car. Contact me for more specifics. Thanks. JSS |
